Weigh Clinics
We are pleased to announce the launch of our brand new travelling equine weigh clinic service. Our weigh clinics will involve a vet providing a friendly service that will include:
- Attendance to your yard free of charge.
- Weighing your horse on the scales- particularly useful for accurate worming and feeding.
- Weighing them also with a weigh tape to compare the two (the difference in some horses has amazed us- up to 100kg difference in some!)
- Body Condition Score your horse and demonstrate this for your continued monitoring.
- Answer any questions regarding diet, worming or other weight-related issues including laminitis, Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) and Cushing's.
- Blood sample your horse for EMS and Cushing's*
The consultations will last approximately 10 minutes per horse and we will come to your yard free of charge if 5 or more horses are booked in before the date. To book in, please add your name to the list that will be submitted to the practice the day before the weigh clinic.
Prices:
£10 per horse cash on the day if booked in on the sheet submitted the day before the visit
Or £15 cash on the day
*Normal blood-sampling charges apply. Starving for 6-12 hours is required for EMS blood tests but none is required for Cushing's. Please contact the practice beforehand so the vet can bring suitable sampling kits and we can chat to you beforehand.
